Betway Premier League Week 4: Belfast Odyssey Arena

Betway Premier League Darts Arena Preview. The Odyssey Arena

Odyssey Arena – BelfastCapacity: 11,000Week 4Thursday 26 February

Week Four. Béal Feirste. Welcome to the home of the most intense darting action in the United Kingdom. The capital of Northern Ireland plays host to Week Four of the Premier League, and never fails to provide an explosive spectacle. The Odyssey Arena is right on the Waterfront, and like the namesake of nearby Titanic Quarter, we’re expecting high seas and high drama inside. One of the season’s highlights is always the battle between Michael van Gerwen and Adrian Lewis, as there is often no love lost between the two. With Lewis not having beaten MVG in the league since March 2013, can he change that today?

Plus, can Stephen Bunting finally get one over on Raymond van Barneveld after their emotional game in the World Championship semi-finals? After the game, Barney said Bunting should be playing in the Premier League. After a shaky start, now is ‘The Bullet’s’ time to prove it.

Betway Premier League Rewind: Last year in Belfast…

Week 3 Thursday 20 February 2014

Last year’s Week 3 at the Odyssey Arena was one of high drama and action, with not a single draw in any of the five games. In fact, none of the games were even close to being a draw. The night kicked off with an all-Scottish affair, in which Gary Anderson strolled to a 7-2 victory over Robert Thornton, despite having a lower average on the night. A struggle for accuracy was the tale of the tape for The Thorn, just as it was in the second game of the night for Dave Chisnall, who could not withstand mighty Michael van Gerwen’s raw power, going down 7-4.

Up next was yet more misery for the floundering Phil Taylor, losing by three legs to flamboyant rival Peter Wright. Elsewhere, the battle of the Englishmen ended in a shock as Wes Newton thumped Adrian Lewis 7-2, with Jackpot simply not able to find his footing.

The night ended with big Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld handing a third-successive defeat to Aussie Simon Whitlock to round off the trip to Northern Ireland in style.
